Can shoes breed?
I'm starting to think so.
They must.
It's the only reason I can come up with to explain why we have so many darn shoes in my house.
I've decided they must be genetically programmed to breed, multiple and then run around my house and plant themselves in the middle of hallways.
It's not just one breed either, the wayward shoes in my house are of different sizes, shapes, colours and many even have weird things attached to them - like uh, cleats.
Shoe racks don't seem to contain these pests. These vermin are taking over my house and I don't like it.
I'm thinking about setting traps.
Will that work? Oh, but if I set them free once I catch them, will they just scatter again?
Darn kids shoes.
Sigh.
I'm Leanne and I'm a tired mama. I work, I parent, I juggle and I don't seem to get enough sleep. Welcome to the place where I rant about all these things...

If you come up with a solution, let me know. My kids leave their shoes wherever they take them off, often leading to a pre-bus hunt for the shoes early in the morning.

Sounds just like Legos. They multiply like bunnies and then throw themselves in my path on the way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
My son has Fred Flintstone feet, wide and flat, so he only has three pairs of shoes, including a pair of the soccer shoes. He seems happy with this situation, so I'm hoping I can keep him that way.

Love it when other people have to deal with the same crap I deal with...makes me feel normal :)

Yes! Shoes breed. And socks hit on other socks in the dryer and switch partners. It's the only way I can explain all the singles in my drawer.

Only the ugly, utilitarian shoes breed. The Manolo pumps, the Gucci boots -- they reproduce only by cloning, which is very expensive and thus affordable only to a select few.

And the kicker is that the kids are always telling me that they need new shoes.

Ah the shoe rack. Alas never used in our home. Though HAD it been used they would have KNOWN where their damn shoes were!

I read somewhere that the average person has 30 pairs of shoes. We have five people in our house. That's 150 pairs of shoes!! I've started to make plans for a house addition just to HOLD SHOES.

Given the sheer number of shoes laying about the house that are mine, I probably have no grounds to complain. But mine have just recently become the smallest (sizewise) in the house, so I think I'm entitled to the volume!

I like what Christina said - it makes me feel normal too! I have tried every kind of shoe rack out there and I still trip on shoes coming in or out of the house.

We seem to have this problem with shoes and my child is only 2.5! Uh-oh. And he's a boy...so what might happen if we ever have a girl!? :-)

If you manage to create a trap that works, be sure to market it.
Oh - and make one for clothes, too. More than once I have pared down our girls' clothes to only 5 or 6 outfits each.
More than once we have looked to see that only days later we are overrun with clothes again.
I have NO IDEA where they come from, either, because I do not buy them.

Those little suckers are like raccoons, they look cute but man are they evil! The sneak up and bite you when you least expect them. Stupid things
