My youngest daughter had her music exam yesterday. She went in happy and well prepared. She came out in tears.
Ah, oh.
I wasn't all that concerned as she's still little for gosh darn sake, and really in the grand scheme of things this exam isn't going to make a huge difference in her life.
Still, I was a little surprised today when my happy go lucky, roll with the punches, life is sunny kid was still upset about it.
I talked to her music teacher and found out that the part of the exam my daughter thought she didn't do well on is worth about 10% of the total exam mark.
My daughter brightened up a bit at this news.
But this made me realizethat my youngest is growing up and starting to take these kinda things more seriously. I guess I can't just assume now that these trials aren't going to affect her any more - my youngest is no longer a baby.
So, I did what any good female would do if another female was upset.
I took her shoe shopping.
And then we had ice cream for dinner.
It made her smile.
My youngest may look like her Dad, but in reality?
The girl's all me.
I love you little one.
I'm Leanne and I'm a tired mama. I work, I parent, I juggle and I don't seem to get enough sleep. Welcome to the place where I rant about all these things...

You know how to brighten a girls day!! Shoes and ice cream. I may call you next time I have a bad day :)

Glad that your girl was feeling better after the clarification with her music teacher and that the retail therapy helped too. Probably it is about time to share with her something from the movie dark knight, "Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."

It is too bad that they have to be that stressed and upset so young! Shoes and ice cream would have definitely made me feel better :)

Aw man, that was so sweet. I was the kind of kid who took things like that seriously, too. And it's looking like Hana's turning out to be that kind of kid, too.
I'm looking forward to the shoes & ice cream!

Shoe shopping always cheers me up! It does get harder as they get older doesn't it.

Ah, this has been a rough few weeks around here. Middle child has managed to score both a pair of Converse and a pair of trainers out of the murk. And there has most certainly been ice cream. Here's to coping skills!
