I did a brave thing today.
I took the HUGE pile of papers, mail and kid's stuff that was sitting on my kitchen counter and I threw the whole thing in the recycling bin.
I didn't even sort through it to make sure I wasn't throwing out money or anything, I just carried it all out to the blue box in the garage and tossed the whole pile. It took me two trips to haul everything out there.
I carried on into the family room and tossed out all the papers and magazines I found in there too.
Toss. Toss. Toss.
It was invigorating.
I love a good clean up.
Hey, did you know that my kitchen counter tops are made of black stoney stuff with tiny colored specks in it?
I hadn't remembered that either. It's amazing what you find when you clean up.
I'm Leanne and I'm a tired mama. I work, I parent, I juggle and I don't seem to get enough sleep. Welcome to the place where I rant about all these things...

You are my new hero. I was just wondering if others cover their counters with clutter, and what they do about it.

Despite the fact that my kitchen is basically one ginormous paper pile, I could never just pitch without checking/reading/sorting. OCD much?

It sounds corny and cliche to say, "me too!" but that's what we're doing this morning. You know why? It's Parks and Rec sign up day and I searched for over an hour for our freakin' family and client numbers so I could sign the kiddos up for lessons.
The toss is a good excuse for recycling and catharsis.

OK, this is a bit scary but I just finished doing the same thing in the kitchen, through the cupboards and the magazine pile. Maybe it's the cold weather!Purging does feel good though.

Tossing crap away is cheap therapy for me. LOVE doing it, my kids are not nearly as happy as I am when I do it :)

Oh, I couldn't. I must sort it and read it and have various piles before I can let it go. Good for you!

Ooooh. I post a comment so other slackers don't have to risk feeling motivated because everyone else is clearing off the horizontal spaces. My piles may one day win me a spot in a Guinness book...
