So, what are things like with your kids in the morning?
My kids are currently in the second, fifth and seventh grades.
Every night after they get home from school my kids have six things they have to do: homework, pet chores, pick up their rooms, put away the stuff they've dumped in the back entrance way, pack up the things they need for the next day (school and extra curricular) and practice their music.
They also need to eat, shower and get their pajamas on every night - so nine things if you're counting.
In order to get all these things done in a timely fashion I had to set up a new rule last night. No 'screens' (PC, TV - which includes Wii, Gameboys etc.) from Monday until Thursday.
Hubby thinks I'm being unjust.
Hubby doesn't try and get them up every morning and get them out the door.
If my kids are not organized the night before then I spend my mornings yelling at them to get going and trying to help them find the things they need.
If my kids pull it all together the night before then I actually have time, when they're in bed, to deal with the tracking down of lost things, and to deal with the stuff that is broken or needs attention. This makes me a much nicer Mom in the morning and the kids a happier group.
Hubby doesn't seem to get this. He just wants the kids to play Guitar Hero with him at night. But when my kids play on the Wii at night or turn on the TV, NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS.
I'm in a bad mood this morning because I have to be the bad guy on this one. Of course, the kids like their Dad's stand on this issue much better then mine.
I'm thinking right now that hubby is a part of the problem. I need him to be a part of the solution. You readin' this hon?
